This role involves designing and sustaining portable gas detectors, contributing to all phases of product development from concept and circuit design to compliance testing and production support. The engineer will work in multidisciplinary teams and ensure products meet safety and regulatory standards for critical applications in the industrial sector.

What you'd actually do

  1. As part of PMC Engineering group, you will be one among the team designing & sustaining portable gas detectors
  2. Be able to work in multidisciplinary team Perform Electronics system development, schematic design, Circuit simulation, detailed design, working with regulatory agencies, verification testing & interfacing with cross functional teams while meeting the requirements.
  3. Coordinate team efforts of interdisciplinary engineers (Mechanical, Firmware, ECAD, Evaluation) for design of product and potential risk identification.
  4. Perform design analysis results (Stress, Tolerance, Error budgeting, Timing, power etc.) and provide technical expertise for design trade off.
  5. Design the electrical architecture of SIL2 IEC 61508 product considering the usability, functionality, regulatory and compliance aspects.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
  • 2 years of hands-on experience with microprocessor-based systems
  • Analog & digital circuit design
  • Power supply design
  • Sensor interfacing
  • Experience supporting product development lifecycle (design, validation, compliance testing, launch)
  • Familiarity in EMI troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., IEC 60601)
  • Proficiency with data acquisition and analysis tools (e.g., LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, or Excel)
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., USB, SPI, I2C)

Nice to have

  • Good understanding of optical spectroscopy and laser-spectroscopy–based gas detection
  • Knowledge of six sigma principles in product design & development
  • Working experience with analog sensor signal conditioning circuits with microcontroller/processor integration
  • IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 standard awareness for product design (e.g., PFD / HFT)
  • ATEX / flame-proof design experience
  • Intrinsic Safety (IS) protection techniques
  • Exposure to additional communication protocols (e.g., DDR, SGMII, HDMI, Wi-Fi, BLE)
  • Hands-on experience with error budgeting and statistical data analysis using tools such as Minitab

What the JD emphasized

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
