This role is for an Advisor in Immunology Discovery at Eli Lilly, focusing on preclinical drug discovery research. The candidate will design and evaluate novel immunomodulatory strategies, conduct in vivo and in vitro experiments, and analyze data using techniques like flow cytometry and RNA-seq. The role involves managing multiple projects, supervising research associates, and collaborating across functions. It requires strong hands-on experience in immunology, cell biology, and animal models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and evaluate novel immunomodulatory strategies, including genetic medicines and cell-based platforms, translating mechanistic insights into testable hypotheses and advancing promising concepts toward preclinical and clinical development.
  2. Independently design, develop, and execute in vivo and in vitro experimental protocols; generate robust and consistent data of high quality, generate clear scientific documentation
  3. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high scientific rigor, data integrity, and reproducibility to inform strategic decision making
  4. Present results in a clear and effective manner in team meetings, departmental forums, and governance presentations.
  5. Supervise, train, and mentor research associates, as appropriate

Skills

Required

  • MS with 6+ years of relevant experience, or BS with 8+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical/ biotech R&D
  • Extensive experience designing, executing, and documenting in vivo studies
  • Demonstrated expertise in humanized immune system mouse models
  • Proficiency for in vivo techniques
  • Handling of mice
  • Expertise in multiple dosing routes (IV, IP, SC, PO, etc.)
  • Proficiency in blood collection methods (tail vein, submandibular, cardiac puncture)
  • Experience with tissue collection and necropsy
  • Strong data analysis utilizing flow cytometry
  • Strong hands-on expertise and deep knowledge in performing human primary immune cell culture
