Joby Aviation is seeking experienced Airplane Maintenance Mechanics to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and component replacements on General Aviation aircraft. The role involves hands-on work, documentation, and coordination of maintenance operations in support of aircraft operations and FAA certification.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with company procedures and maintenance manuals
  2. Conduct scheduled and unscheduled aircraft inspections per technical manuals, including maintenance sign-offs and return-to-service approvals
  3. Remove and replace airframe, powerplant, and electrical components per company procedures and maintenance manuals
  4. Complete required documentation in accordance with established company and FAA procedures
  5. Perform aircraft launch and recovery operations, including pre- and post-flight ground support activities

Skills

Required

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • 8+ years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience
  • Experience performing maintenance and inspections of advanced aircraft systems
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations and maintenance practices
  • Ability to work with electro-mechanical devices, high-voltage power systems, and electronic equipment
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, and technical documents
  • General working knowledge of hand tools and precision measuring equipment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with maintenance documentation systems
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to work extended hours and travel domestically as required
  • Valid passport with no travel restrictions
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading and speaking English

Nice to have

  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) certificate
  • Experience leading maintenance teams or coordinating field maintenance operations
  • Experience managing aircraft logistics and onsite operational support
  • Familiarity with electronic aircraft maintenance management (ERP) systems
  • Part 135 maintenance experience
  • Cessna 208 maintenance experience
  • Robinson maintenance experience
