Automotive Equipment Technician

This role is for an Automotive Equipment Technician at Verizon, responsible for the maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles and special equipment. The technician will perform diagnostics, inspections, and utilize computer systems for tracking and record-keeping. The role requires mechanical experience, a CDL license, and various certifications, with a focus on ensuring fleet readiness.

What you'd actually do

  1. Performing maintenance and repair of all types of motor vehicles and special equipment in the Verizon fleet.
  2. Diagnosing, maintaining and repairing all company associated equipment, including aerial lifts, diggers, generators, tools, etc.
  3. Using computer test equipment to diagnose vehicle problems.
  4. Interfacing with vehicle users regarding repairs, questions, etc.
  5. Performing OSHA, ANSI, emissions, and state inspections on company vehicles.

Skills

Required

  • 5 or more years’ experience as a mechanic or other relevant experience
  • CDL License or Commercial Learner's Permit
  • Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Certificate for Air Brakes Inspection
  • Certificate for Mobile-Air Conditioning Society (MACS) with an assigned (EPA) number
  • Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, lifting, carrying and maneuvering heavy equipment up to 100 lbs.
  • Must pass an alcohol and drug test (if CDL is required)

Nice to have

  • Recent experience performing maintenance and repairs on diesel vehicles
  • Current ASE Certifications
