Box is seeking an experienced Employment Attorney to provide legal advice and counsel on a broad range of employment issues, including those related to employee-related AI initiatives. The role involves partnering with People and Community teams, managing disputes, and ensuring compliance with employment laws.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide strategic advice and counsel to the People & Communities team on a broad range of employment issues, including recruitment, hiring, corrective actions, terminations, benefits, complex leaves of absence and accommodations issues, compensation, contingent workers, HR policies and practices, and performance management, among others;
  2. Provide pragmatic advice to the business on employment obligations primarily focused in the United States but the ability to flex and advise on other geographic areas
  3. Provide legal advice on various employee-related AI initiatives
  4. In coordination with the People & Communities team, assist with the creation of policies, standards and business procedures designed to foster compliance with various employment laws and regulations (including health and safety compliance);
  5. Draft and review various types of employment offers, agreements, policies, etc.;

Skills

Required

  • JD degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar (CA, NY, IL or TX preferred)
  • 6+ experience in employment law
  • Significant experience advising Employee Relations on investigations of employee complaints, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower, and policy violations
  • Experience at a reputable law firm (some in-house legal department or secondment experience preferred)
  • Significant experience providing employment law advice and counsel on the full spectrum of employment issues.
  • Experience with California employment law (or a willingness to dive in and learn)
  • Experience working with and influencing cross-functional partners
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and collaborative skills with a service-orientated mindset
  • Attention to detail, sense of humor, team player yet autonomous, highest level of judgment and integrity
  • Comfortable juggling multiple demands and shifting priorities
  • Experience with employee-related privacy ;
  • Ability to manage or coordinate the work of others, including external counsel and working groups or project teams;
