Integration & Automation Tech Lead

Instacart Instacart · Consumer · United States · Remote · Accounting & Finance

This role focuses on defining the strategy, architecture, and delivery for Instacart's enterprise integration and automation landscape across Finance and Accounting. It involves architecting modern, platform-agnostic integrations using iPaaS, APIs, webhooks, and AI to eliminate manual work and accelerate financial transformation. The role also includes modernizing release and automation practices through CI/CD and partnering with stakeholders to ensure technology enables insight, compliance, and growth. A key aspect is embedding AI and intelligent automation into integration workflows, leveraging LLMs, agents, and ML services for tasks like reconciliation and anomaly detection.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and evolve the integration and automation strategy and roadmap across Finance and Accounting systems, with a platform-agnostic, best-fit-for-purpose approach.
  2. Architect solutions for end-to-end integrations across ERPs (Oracle/NetSuite/Workday), CRM (Salesforce), procurement (Zip/Coupa), HRIS, banking/payment processors, and data platforms (Snowflake/Databricks/Redshift).
  3. Deliver robust, scalable integration solutions across modern iPaaS platforms (Boomi, Workato, MuleSoft, or equivalents) and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), as well as custom API and database integrations.
  4. Embed AI and intelligent automation capabilities into integration workflows — leveraging LLMs, agents, and ML services to streamline reconciliation, anomaly detection, and exception handling.
  5. Partner with Security, IT, and Audit to ensure integrations adhere to least-privilege access, data encryption, SoX controls, and compliance requirements.

Skills

Required

  • Hands-on experience with at least one modern iPaaS — Boomi, Workato, MuleSoft, or equivalent — including production-grade orchestration, error handling, and monitoring.
  • Strong working knowledge of complex API integrations (REST, SOAP, GraphQL), authentication patterns (OAuth, JWT, API keys, mTLS), webhooks, and event-driven architectures.
  • Proven experience with modern ERPs (Oracle Cloud, NetSuite, Workday) and integrations to boundary systems such as Salesforce.
