It Labs Technical Engineer

This role focuses on the technical implementation, optimization, and maintenance of laboratory IT systems within a regulated GxP environment at Merck's Animal Health division. The engineer will act as a technical SME, collaborating with project teams to design, implement, and qualify solutions, ensuring data flow, operational efficiency, and system stability. Responsibilities include SDLC, incident management, root cause analysis, and system evaluation.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and develop laboratory solutions and manage technical deployment in collaboration with external suppliers
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business needs
  3. Ensure solutions are aligned with AHIT platforms and overall strategy
  4. Drive standardization and consistent ways of working across laboratory environments
  5. Apply System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and IT best practices to deliver integration solutions

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or a related field
  • Microsoft certifications (MCSA/MCSE level)
  • Understanding of ITIL principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a highly regulated environment (e.g., pharmaceutical, biotech, food, or chemical industry)
  • Knowledge of GxP environments and validation requirements
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to understand complex automated systems
  • Proactive, independent, and solution-oriented mindset
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative team attitude
  • Fluency in English and preferably Dutch
