This role is for a Member of Technical Staff focused on AI policy and strategic initiatives, working with senior leadership on a broad portfolio of technology initiatives across AI policy, law, operations, and corporate affairs. Responsibilities include researching policy issues, building platforms for patenting inventions, supporting litigation, engineering privacy and compliance systems, contributing to regulatory filings, implementing software solutions for HR, and acting as a subject-matter expert in meetings with various stakeholders. The role requires strong technical skills, an interest in law/policy/economics, and exceptional ability.

What you'd actually do

  1. Harness AI agents to research high-stakes policy and regulatory issues pertaining to Perplexity.
  2. Build automated platforms for harvesting, prioritizing, and patenting Perplexity's inventions, in collaboration with our AI researchers and intellectual property attorneys.
  3. Work hands-on with our Legal team and outside counsel in support of high-tech litigation matters in U.S. federal court.
  4. Engineer privacy and compliance systems that efficiently scale with our growing portfolio of frontier AI products (such as [Comet](https://www.perplexity.ai/comet) and [Computer](https://www.perplexity.ai/products/computer)).
  5. Contribute to regulatory filings and responses that require impeccable command of AI technology, Perplexity's own systems, and the broader policy landscape.
