What you'd actually do

  1. Directs the activities of a software systems development function, software applications development function, and a software quality assurance function for software enhancements and new products, including cloud-based or internet-related tools
  2. This role leads and supports a team of 8+ engineers, providing structured feedback, mentorship, and career development advice while encouraging a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  3. The role includes coordinating all aspects of building, developing, and operating distributed systems and services.
  4. It ensures systems meet scalability, performance, and reliability requirements.
  5. It also promotes strong operational practices, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response, while encouraging a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Skills

Required

  • Experience leading or managing engineering teams and supporting both individual growth and team development
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and cross-functional teams
  • Experience building or operating distributed systems or backend services
  • Familiarity with event streaming technologies such as Kafka or similar systems
  • Experience with data processing frameworks such as Spark or Flink
  • Understanding of cloud-native environments including Kubernetes, CI/CD, and monitoring tools
  • Programming experience in Java, Scala, or similar languages
  • Focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability
