Power Delivery Engineer

This role focuses on designing and developing power delivery solutions for Intel's platforms, ensuring optimal energy efficiency and performance. Responsibilities include defining, analyzing, and implementing power delivery networks, designing power conversion and management solutions, and collaborating with architects. The role requires expertise in power delivery modeling, PCB design tools, and debugging power systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and implement end-to-end power delivery designs, from concept to execution, to meet platform power requirements.
  2. Define and analyze power delivery networks, utilizing 2D and 3D model extraction, noise analysis, and simulation tools to meet platform specifications.
  3. Design and validate power conversion and management solutions, focusing on energy management, package and PCB optimization, decoupling solutions, and power sequencing requirements.
  4. Apply expertise in power conversion topologies, including components, compensation circuits, stability analysis, drop/droop analysis, and PCB layout tools, to characterize and optimize performance.
  5. Collaborate with silicon and platform architects to generate analysis and solutions, delivering comprehensive content for platform design guides.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 10+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 7+ years of experience, or a PhD with no prior experience.
  • Proficiency in power delivery modeling, analysis, and optimization techniques.
  • Expertise with PCB schematic capture and layout tools, including Cadence Allegro and Sigrity.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and debugging tools.
  • Strong understanding of power converters, compensation circuits, and stability analysis.
  • Must have design and hands on experience for all types of DC-DC converters and their topologies
  • Must have in depth knowledge of active and passive components used in PD domain
  • Must have hands on with power tree/map preparation, drop/droop analysis, compensation ckts, area and cost estimation, comparison, optimization.
  • Should have good knowledge of Energy, Power management - mainly battery operated systems, Type C Power Delivery.
  • Must have working experience on designing and validating Battery
  • Should have good hold on placement and layout techniques as well as schematics (HDL).
  • Should have good debug skills and familiar with platform states for Windows/Android, etc.

Nice to have

  • Experience with IA, PMIC based designs is preferable.
  • Experience with Voltage regulator simulations and stability analysis is preferable
  • Should have strong PD and PI validation experience
  • Prior experience with Intel Mobile Voltage Positioning (IMVP) design.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Concept HDL for schematic capture and BOM management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead power delivery programs and drive technical excellence independently.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with a collaborative mindset.
