Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant role focused on fixed asset accounting, lease accounting (ASC 842), internal-use software capitalization (ASC 350-40), and cloud computing arrangement implementation cost accounting. Requires partnership with various departments, experience with financial ERP systems, and a demonstrated interest in process automation and AI tools for accounting workflows.

What you'd actually do

  1. Oversee the full lifecycle of fixed assets and lease accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and F5 policies.
  2. Manage accounting processes for internal-use software and cloud computing arrangements (CCA), ensuring accurate cost evaluations, capitalization, amortization, and related disclosures.
  3. Partner with Procurement, IT, FP&A, and other departments to evaluate expenditure requests, determine proper accounting treatment, and document supporting conclusions.
  4. Own the accounting for your area, anchored in the monthly accounting close process, identify opportunities for standardization, efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
  5. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public companies or high-growth organizations.
  • Proven experience in managing the accounting close process, including internal reporting, fluctuation analysis, and execution of SOX internal controls in a dynamic environment.
  • Experienced in US GAAP and internal controls, lease accounting under ASC 842, and accounting for fixed assets.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to partner with other levels in the organization.
  • Strong sense of ownership and ability to apply judgment to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to proactively identify and escalate risks and issues to leadership.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.
  • Possess a critical thinking mindset.

Nice to have

  • CPA designation or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
  • Experience in working within financial ERP systems (Oracle, Coupa, etc.), reconciliation tools (Blackline), lease accounting tools (LeaseQuery), and AI and financial automation tools, strongly preferred.
  • Experience within the technology industry is a plus.
