Senior Commercial Counsel

Fivetran is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel to draft and negotiate customer agreements for their data pipeline product. The role involves partnering with sales and product teams, creating playbooks, and improving contract management processes. Experience with AI tools for legal workflows is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Review, revise and negotiate commercial contracts, including customer paper agreements
  2. Serve as one of the designated legal contacts on the commercial legal team to Fivetran’s enterprise sales team, including sales team education, training and communications related to any changes to customer agreements
  3. Serve as one of the primary legal contacts on the commercial legal team, providing strategic guidance and oversight on contracting, enablement, and process improvement initiatives
  4. Create and update commercial legal team playbooks to help drive alignment with internal stakeholders
  5. Own and improve key template documents, including periodic revisions and improvements, and help operationalize templates into the contracts management and automation tool

Skills

Required

  • Commercial attorney with 8+ years of experience in negotiating commercial contracts
  • Experience in data and privacy
  • Expertise in drafting, reviewing, and finalizing complex agreements (sales agreements, SaaS and enterprise B2B transactions, data processing agreements)
  • Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA and other data protection laws
  • Process-oriented approach to building and optimizing processes
  • High-volume, quick turn on execution of agreements
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to articulate complex legal concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • High attention to detail
  • Self-initiative
  • JD and admitted to practice in at least one jurisdiction

Nice to have

  • Experience using AI tools (such as Claude or similar) to enhance legal workflow efficiency
  • Eligibility to become a registered in-house counsel in either California or Colorado
  • CIPP (US) certification
