Senior Data Engineer II to build and advance Axon's Corporate Data Platform, a cloud-native data warehouse. This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing data solutions using Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, and other modern data stack tools. The engineer will serve as a technical anchor, shaping platform architecture, raising engineering standards, and building AI-ready data infrastructure to support enterprise reporting, business analytics, and AI-driven initiatives across various business functions. Experience with data governance, compliance controls (SOX), and mentoring junior engineers is also required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as a senior technical anchor for Axon’s Corporate Data Platform, setting a high quality bar for engineering output, data modeling, testing, observability, and production readiness.
  2. Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines, models, and warehouse architecture across Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, and related modern data platform technologies.
  3. Partner closely with the Principal Data Engineer, team lead, and cross-functional stakeholders to influence architectural decisions and deliver reliable, governed, and AI-ready data infrastructure.
  4. Build and maintain clean, well-modeled datasets that power enterprise reporting, business self-service analytics, and AI-driven work-streams across Finance, Sales, Operations, and other business functions.
  5. Contribute to Axon’s formal data governance framework, including data quality SLAs, audit-scoped monitoring across Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers, and SOX-relevant compliance controls.

Skills

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software engineering, or modern data platform development
  • Hands-on expertise with Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, and modern ELT/data warehouse architecture
  • Proficiency leveraging AI-powered engineering tools such as Cursor and Claude Code as part of day-to-day development workflows
  • Strong data modeling, SQL, testing, observability, and performance optimization skills
  • Experience supporting data governance, data quality frameworks, auditability, compliance controls, or SOX-relevant environments
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior individual contributor
  • A passion for mentorship and team elevation
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Nice to have

  • experience with Elementary, Sigma, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, or AI/ML-adjacent data tooling
