Joby Aviation is seeking a Senior Recruiting Manager to lead and scale their talent acquisition efforts. This role involves managing a team of recruiters, optimizing recruiting processes and technology, and partnering with hiring managers to attract talent for their air taxi service. The position requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and experience with recruiting systems, with a preference for candidates who have experience with AI in talent acquisition.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of full-lifecycle recruiters to achieve hiring targets and deliver an exceptional candidate experience.
  2. Design, implement, and continuously refine compliant and effective recruiting practices that scale with the business, ensuring strict adherence to all employment laws and internal policies.
  3. Build strong coalitions and maintain productive relationships with hiring managers to provide strategic recruitment support and thoroughly understand evolving business needs.
  4. Translate functional hiring plans into operational execution, organizing multiple teams to break down and solve complex recruiting challenges efficiently.
  5. Act as a key stakeholder in scaling our talent infrastructure, providing crucial input on the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of People systems (e.g., ATS, HRIS, AI tools) and recruitment workflows.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or 12+ years of relevant skilled experience
  • Leadership experience overseeing high-level individual contributors or other leaders
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to confidently work with spreadsheets, validate complex datasets, and extract actionable insights
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience evaluating, implementing, and optimizing People systems (e.g., ATS, CRM, and reporting tools)
  • Deep understanding of recruiting best practices, sourcing techniques, and employment law compliance

Nice to have

  • Experience driving technology transformation, including the adoption of AI within talent acquisition workflows
  • Broad understanding of the full spectrum of the People function, including compensation, internal mobility, learning and development, and performance management
  • Experience within a diverse range of recruiting environments, ranging from fast-paced, high-volume to specialized executive searches
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., SHRM, PHR, AIRS, or similar)
