This role is for a Senior Sales Engineer at Datadog, focusing on key accounts in Central US. The primary responsibility is to provide technical expertise, conduct sales presentations, product demonstrations, and support technical evaluations. The role involves partnering with the sales team, owning technical engagements during the trial phase, technically closing complex opportunities, and delivering product briefings. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, programming/scripting experience, and at least 3 years in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering role. While Datadog is an AI company, this specific role is in sales and does not involve building AI models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner with the Sales team to articulate the overall Datadog value proposition, vision and strategy to customers
  2. Own technical engagement with customers during the trial phase. Communicate Datadog’s value based on activities and work with customers on any identified issues or concerns to successful conclusion
  3. Technically close complex opportunities through advanced competitive knowledge, technical skill, and credibility
  4. Deliver product and technical briefings / presentations to potential clients
  5. Maintain accurate notes and feedback in CRM regarding customer input both wins and losses

Skills

Required

  • strong written and oral communication skills
  • programming/scripting with any of the following: Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, and .NET etc.
  • 3+ years in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering role

Nice to have

  • Passion for educating customers on observability risks that are meaningful to their business, and able to build and execute an evaluation plan with a customer
