This role is for a Senior Solutions Architect at Elastic, focusing on the SLED (State, Local, and Education) sector in Chicago/Indianapolis. The primary responsibility is to serve as a technical authority and trusted advisor to the sales team, customers, and partners. The role involves understanding customer business issues, articulating how Elastic's offerings address their needs, and enabling sales through partners. Key activities include technical discovery, demonstrating product value, crafting collateral, and communicating customer needs back to engineering and leadership. While the company is an 'AI Company' and its platform incorporates AI, this specific role is customer-facing and sales-enabling, not directly involved in building or researching AI models or systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serving as the technical point of contact for your accounts and account managers in your assigned territory.
  2. Building a comprehensive understanding of customers’ goals and objectives, and articulating how our offerings address their needs.
  3. Creating and owning value based relationships at all levels in customer organizations.
  4. Actively participating in all phases of planning and execution for your territory, from initial discovery to the technical win.
  5. Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of the Elastic products and solutions to demonstrate the value of our offerings in sales meetings, and at events such as meetups and conferences.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field AND 3+ years of proven experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or cloud/infrastructure technologies.
  • Professional experience in architecting/operating solutions built on one or more cloud service providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience with cloud solutions, virtual platforms, software development, and operational management practices.
  • 6+ years of experience in specific technology domain areas (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
  • Implementation experience with SaaS platforms using web technologies (TCP/IP, HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, RESTful APIs), particularly cloud-based, high-performance solutions.
  • A track record of success in a technical presales role-- enough experience selling and implementing technology to earn your customer’s trust.
  • A demonstrable ability to articulate and sell the benefits of modern platforms, software and technologies.
  • An ability to influence. Have you more than once convinced a team you worked for, of an idea, technology, or architectural pattern?
  • The ability to inspire groups, both large and small.
  • A willingness to travel 40% within region, as well as occasionally internationally.
