Senior Technical Writer at AMD responsible for planning, developing, and delivering high-quality technical content for complex products and technologies. What you'd actually do

  1. Plan, create, and maintain technical documentation for complex products and technologies in a high-tech environment.
  2. Manage multiple documentation projects with overlapping timelines and deadlines, ensuring on-time delivery.
  3. Work directly with subject matter experts (SMEs) across engineering and product teams to develop accurate and usable documentation.
  4. Apply and enforce multiple style guides and writing standards to ensure consistency and quality.
  5. Track project status, report progress, and manage documentation risks and dependencies.

Skills

Required

  • Technical writing experience in a high-tech or software/hardware environment
  • Experience working with DITA or other XML-based authoring and publishing systems
  • Working knowledge of Git-based documentation workflows, Markdown, and reStructuredText (RST)
  • Experience collaborating with global, cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with project tracking tools and collaborative platforms such as Jira and Confluence
  • Experience in the semiconductor domain or a related hardware/software ecosystem
  • Experience creating developer-focused documentation, such as API or reference material
  • Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python)
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools to support documentation workflows (writing, editing, review, validation, or quality checks)
  • Experience with technical illustration or graphics tools such as Microsoft Visio
  • Familiarity with Agile or release-driven documentation environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Communication, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience; a university-issued certificate in technical communication is also acceptable.
