Job Summary
As a Construction Specialist 2, you will support the execution of telecommunications construction projects from planning through completion—balancing field work with office coordination. You will be a partner with crews, subcontractors, and internal teams to keep projects moving, resolve issues in real time, and ensure work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
In this role, you will apply your expertise in aerial and underground construction, interpret system designs, and manage project timelines, costs, and permits. You will play a key role in troubleshooting challenges, coordinating resources, and keeping projects on track from start to finish.
This position includes a mix of field and office responsibilities- approximately 60% office-based responsibilities and 40% field engagement to support active projects, along with on-call rotation and occasional weekend support, providing real-time coverage for active projects when needed.
Required Skills & Competencies:
• Troubleshooting – Quickly identifies and resolves construction or network issues to minimize project delays. • Telecommunications Construction (Aerial/Underground) – Applies hands-on knowledge of cable installation, pole placement, and aerial and underground infrastructure. • System Diagrams / Prints – Reads and interprets technical prints to guide accurate construction work. • Project Management – Manages timelines, budgets, and resources across multiple projects. • Regulatory & Permitting Requirements – Ensures all work meets local, state, and industry regulations. • Permitting Process – Coordinates and tracks permit approvals required for construction activities.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Supervising the installation of cables and poles for overhead-underground construction while operating vehicles and trailers safely
- Monitoring project records for start dates, milestones, material costs, and labor expenditures
- Enforcing work site safety standards and conducting regular safety compliance visits and meetings
- Ensuring resources such as vehicles, equipment, and inventory are in proper working order
- Supporting project coordination, developing cost estimates, monitoring job costs, evaluating change orders, and controlling the budget for work in progress
- Generating logs and reports on construction, projects, materials, and expenditures
- Addressing customer requests and complaints with timely follow-up and resolution
- Monitoring construction crew performance against goals and objectives and providing technical guidance
- Conducting field surveys and post-construction reviews to ensure project accuracy and progress
- Coordinating all construction project phases, including meetings, surveys, permits, and plant activation, while ensuring budget adherence
- Managing subcontractors, interfacing with officials and industry representatives, and offering technical support to internal departments.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
