This role is for a Sr. Specialist in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) at Merck's Animal Health Technology Solutions facilities. The specialist will manage compliance programs, partner with site leadership, and drive improvements across facilities in Dallas, TX, and Baton Rouge, LA. Responsibilities include serving as the primary EHS point of contact, liaising with regulatory agencies, developing and implementing EHS programs, managing environmental compliance, supporting incident investigations, tracking metrics, developing EHS training, and communicating technical/regulatory information. The role requires 5+ years of EHS experience in relevant environments and competency in specific EHS programs like RCRA, Clean Air Act, OSHA PSM, and high-risk work controls. Preferred experience includes knowledge of Texas and Louisiana environmental regulations and proficiency in EHS management systems and safety programs. The salary range is $106,200.00 - $167,200.00.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as the primary EHS point of contact for both sites, partnering closely with site leadership, line managers, and cross-functional teams
  2. Serve as liaison with local and state agencies (Texas and Louisiana), ensuring strong regulatory relationships and timely responses
  3. Plan, develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs to ensure continuous compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, company standards, and industry best practices
  4. Own environmental compliance: maintain permits, registrations, and plans; manage renewals and updates; meet reporting deadlines
  5. Support incident investigations and root cause analysis; implement corrective and preventive actions and verify effectiveness
