Principal Software Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing core machine learning models for Walmart's ad ranking and optimization systems. This role involves feature engineering, model training, online testing, and staying updated on AI/ML trends to improve shopper intent understanding, contextual relevance, and prediction accuracy. The engineer will collaborate with Data Science and Product teams, and mentor other engineers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
  2. Collaborate with Data Scientists to prototype new algorithms and build ML model roadmaps.
  3. Build scalable data pipelines for information retrieval and feature engineering.
  4. Apply advanced AI/ML technologies to improve shopper intent understanding, contextual relevance, CTR/CVR predictions, etc.
  5. Extract insights from production data and turn them into model improvement opportunities.

Skills

Required

  • Proficiency in one of the programming languages, Java, Python, C++
  • Proven records for training, deploying, evaluating and operating high throughput machine learning algorithms
  • Solid understanding of popular machine learning algorithms
  • hands-on experience of deep learning
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields

Nice to have

  • Master and PhD are preferred
  • AdTech experience is a strong plus
