This role bridges AI/ML research and functional robotic applications, driving research to derisk the product roadmap by solving complex robotics challenges (perceptive real-time planning, whole body-control, learning from demonstration) on a 1-2 year horizon. Responsibilities include overseeing innovation projects from concept to MVP on humanoid platforms, accelerating data flywheel strategy (teleoperation, synthetic data, fleet learning), partnering with hardware/software teams, and managing a team of researchers and engineers. Requires advanced degree, 8+ years AI/ML experience (3+ in management), demonstrated experience in real-time AI for robotics, expertise in computer vision, reinforcement learning, and LLMs for robotics, and experience deploying models on resource-constrained edge devices.
