This role is for a Software Engineer focused on intelligent manufacturing at Caterpillar's Tianjin facility. The engineer will develop and implement extensions and integrations for production systems (ERP, MES), participate in IoT projects (data acquisition, integration), and assist with system design and documentation. A key aspect is exploring and applying machine learning, AI, or data analysis methods to manufacturing scenarios like quality analysis, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics. The role also involves supporting existing systems, project management assistance, and staying updated on new technologies in intelligent manufacturing and AI.

What you'd actually do

  1. Based on existing internal business systems (ERP, MES, etc.), develop and implement functional extensions and integrations for production scenarios.
  2. Participate in the development and implementation of Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) projects, including equipment data acquisition, interface development, system integration, and basic data processing.
  3. Assist in system function design, technical solution analysis, and writing relevant technical documentation according to project requirements.
  4. Support the operation and maintenance of existing systems, analyze and solve problems encountered during software operation, and continuously improve system stability and availability.
  5. Introduce and attempt to apply machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data analysis methods in projects, exploring practical applications in manufacturing scenarios (such as quality analysis, anomaly detection, predictive analysis, etc.).
  6. Assist project managers in promoting the implementation of intelligent manufacturing projects, participating in project communication, progress tracking, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  7. Pay attention to new technologies and trends in intelligent manufacturing, industrial software, and AI-related fields, and share and communicate within the team.

Skills

Required

  • Master's degree in Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, or related fields (for 2024-2026 graduates)
  • Solid computer fundamentals and good programming habits
  • Good problem analysis and solving skills
  • Good communication skills and teamwork awareness
  • Willingness to develop long-term in the manufacturing industry
  • Good English reading and writing ability
  • Serious and pragmatic work attitude, strong learning ability, strong sense of responsibility and execution

  • C# / .NET platform development experience
