Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Industrial Engineer / Industrial Engineer. This position will be located at our Aeronautics Sector in Palmdale, CA.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Production Engineering & Operations (PE&O) organization. The Industrial Engineering Team is an integral part of day-to-day operations and routinely works alongside many of the other organizations here in Palmdale. This is a team that comes together to learn, collaborate, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:
- Develop and iterate on detail production build schedules by working closely with Development and Production Operations
- Provide support to the manufacturing floor by working proactively with cross-functional teams to understand frontline problems and implement cost-saving solutions.
- Utilize various Continuous Improvement tools to analyze shop floor practices and processes for opportunities to minimize waste, reduce cost, increase capacity and optimize schedule.
- Work with frontline leadership to assess current state reality and define future state possibilities
- Provide tactics and training to frontline leaders and shop floor personnel to improve the current state and facilitate value generation
- Conduct studies and generate metrics pertaining to efficiency, cycle times, work-in-progress, manpower, cost performance, and product delivery.
- Partner with manufacturing management to develop and track recovery plans that instill confidence within program management and customers
- Apply systems thinking in the development of metrics to improve product flow from the release of raw materials through product delivery.
- Provide capacity planning, rate tool analyses, and facility layouts to ensure the ongoing success of composite operations.
This requisition may be filled at either an Associate Industrial Engineer (T01) or Industrial Engineer (T02).
Basic Qualifications for an Associate Industrial Engineer (T01):
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
- Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2026.
- Be majoring in or having majored in Industrial Engineering or similar STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
- Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance. Final approved U.S. Government Secret Clearance is required (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
- Final approved Program Special Access may be required to start.
Basic Qualifications for a Industrial Engineer (T02):
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
- Be completing or has completed their Master’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2026 or is completing their Bachelor's degree by August 2026 from an accredited institution and 1 years of industrial engineering experience.
- Be majoring in or having majored in Industrial Engineering or similar STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
- Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance. Final approved U.S. Government Secret Clearance is required (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).
- Final approved Program Special Access may be required to start.
**Preferred Qualifications for both an Associate Industrial Engineer or Industrial Engineer: **
- Bachelors degree in industrial engineering.
- Advanced excel skills (macros, data mining, and pivot tables).
- Experience with data analysis, data visualization and dashboard creation/maintenance (Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment and hands on experience using shop floor production systems.
- Proficient with AutoCAD or Visio software.
- Capacity and scheduling experience.
- Project management experience
- Report programming experience (SQL, Crystal, MS Query, Bus. Objects, etc.)
- Experience performing Earned Value Management.
- Demonstrated interest in leadership.
- Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher
- Previous internship/co-op or other work experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular).
Pay Range
- Associate Industrial Engineer: $69,400 – $104,000
- Industrial Engineer: $83,400 – $125,200

Primary Level Salary Range: $58,200.00 - $101,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $70,200.00 - $121,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
