2026 Associate Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer - Colorado Springs Co

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Colorado Springs, CO +1 · Systems/Architecture/Test

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer to develop high-fidelity threat modeling products for the Missile Defense Agency. This role involves understanding aerodynamic forces, GNC systems, and modeling system kinematics for missile defense simulations. The engineer will develop ballistic and advanced kinematic threat models, apply engineering and mathematical algorithms for accurate portrayal of vehicle characteristics, and work within a product delivery team to meet critical delivery schedules. Requires a Secret security clearance and experience with programming languages like MATLAB or Python.

What you'd actually do

  1. understanding Aerodynamic forces, Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) systems, modeling & simulation of systems’ kinematics characteristics within the TSE’s model generation framework, and providing documentation required for running threat data in Ground Test architectures.
  2. developing ballistic and advanced/hypersonic kinematic threat models for use in a variety of modeling and simulation tools/frameworks/media.
  3. apply standard engineering and mathematical algorithms to ensure the accurate portrayal of expected missile or space launch vehicle behavioral characteristics during all phases of powered and un-powered flight.
