Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Structural Engineer or Structural Engineer for a weekend shift position in Iuka, MS. The role involves classical static strength hand analysis, Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis, and finite element modeling for aircraft repairs. Candidates must be able to develop and document detailed structural analyses and collaborate in a team environment. A Secret clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Candidate should be knowledgeable in classical static strength hand analysis, Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis, and finite element modeling and analysis for discrepant detail parts and assemblies fabricated from metal and composite materials.
  2. Should be able to develop and document detailed structural analyses in support of aircraft repairs including but not limited to free body diagrams, internal or external loading, shear and moment diagrams, and calculation of internal stresses.
  3. Analyses will be in support of Material Review Board (MRB), and Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP).
  4. Candidate must be able to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously, comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar STEM degree
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (Secret)
  • Classical static strength hand analysis
  • Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT) analysis
  • Finite element modeling and analysis

Nice to have

  • Aircraft structural design criteria
  • Nonstandard repair and equivalent strength analysis background
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution System/ MES
  • Northrop Grumman MRB EN/ST signature
  • Experience working on an ASIP managed platform
  • Experience with crack growth software-AFGROW
  • Familiarity with FEMAP/NX Nastran
  • Experience with the development of dispositions for Airframe discrepancies
  • Active DoW secret clearance or above
  • Structural analysis experience with MRB related activities
