Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer to provide technical support for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Trident II Submarine Launcher Subsystem for the U.S. Navy's Columbia class submarine program. The role involves participating in test procedures, training shipyard personnel, analyzing equipment failures, and collaborating with international teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide technical support to shipyard personnel on the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Trident II Submarine Launcher Subsystem and support equipment at both the Quonset Point, RI and Groton, CT shipyard sites.
  2. Witness and participate in the conduct of test procedures as part of the Shipyard Installation and Test Program (SITP) for COLUMBIA Class SSBNs.
  3. Support test program readiness reviews, participate in working groups, and attend daily standup meetings as required.
  4. Train shipyard personnel in equipment operation, installation, maintenance, inspection procedures, and installation techniques.
  5. Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and recommend corrective action.

Skills

Required

  • STEM degree (Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD)
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
  • Ability to obtain Special Access Program clearance
  • Willingness to support occasional travel up to 25%
  • Willingness to work on a rotating schedule, as needed; periodic shift work and weekend work may be required

  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher
  • Submersible Ship Ballistic Nuclear (SSBN) experience
  • Ship Submersible Guided Missile Nuclear (SSGN) experience
  • Strategic Weapons Systems operations experience
