Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Dulles, VA +1 · Systems/Architecture/Test

Northrop Grumman is seeking Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) engineers to design, build, and test spacecraft subsystems. Responsibilities include designing and tuning control loops and filters, developing and testing flight algorithms, performing performance analysis using simulations, and supporting early design phase concept development. The role requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and an active Top Secret Clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, analyze, and tune spacecraft attitude and position control loops using time and frequency domain techniques
  2. Design, analyze, and tune sequential filters (e.g. Kalman filters) for attitude determination and relative navigation
  3. Design, develop, test and verify flight algorithms for the GNC subsystem and support flight software qualification testing
  4. Analyze and test the spacecraft GNC subsystem performance using simulations and other analytic tools
  5. Perform analysis to support early design phase concept development including actuator sizing and placement, sensor selection and placement, attitude and position guidance, rendezvous, proximity operations and docking analyses, and predicted performance assessments
