This role is for an Accountant at Unity, focusing on core accounting operations, financial reporting, and analysis. Responsibilities include bank reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger management, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP. The role requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform bank reconciliations and Post bank operational entries. Support month-end and year-end close activities.
  2. Review and interpret financial reporting requirements, accounting rules, and regulations. Analyze and reconcile financial data across profit & loss, cash flow, income statement, and balance sheet accounts and Ensure accounting treatments are in compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  3. Account for and monitor investment instruments, including: Time Deposit, Money Market Funds (MMF), Commercial Deposits, Equity Investments
  4. Support accounting for various financing instruments, including convertible debt and similar instruments and Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews.
  5. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and provide required financial information and Identify process improvement opportunities and support automation or efficiency initiatives where applicable.

Skills

Required

  • Strong knowledge of journal entries, general ledger accounting, bank reconciliation, and bank operational accounting.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and US GAAP. Ability to review and interpret financial reporting requirements, rules, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret financial statements and account activity. Knowledge of accounting for investment and financing instruments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy. Good problem-solving and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, or controllership roles.
  • Experience with accounting for investment instruments and financing arrangements.
  • Prior exposure to US GAAP reporting environment.
  • Experience working with workday ERP systems and financial reporting tools is a plus.
