Accounting and Fms Business Process Lead

This role focuses on leading the analysis and redesign of accounting and financial management processes within the Security Cooperation environment, specifically for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) in a federal defense context. It involves assessing current processes, recommending improvements for efficiency and compliance, supporting reconciliations, contributing to audit remediation, and defining business requirements for improved systems. The role requires subject matter expertise in FMS accounting, federal financial processes, and DoD financial reporting.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead analysis and redesign of FMS accounting and related business processes across the Security Cooperation environment.
  2. Assess current-state financial management processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, compliance, and auditability.
  3. Support alignment of accounting processes with DoD financial management and general ledger requirements.
  4. Coordinate and support annual reconciliations, including identification, tracking, and resolution of variances.
  5. Contribute to audit remediation efforts by helping address process, control, and documentation gaps.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in a federal or defense environment
  • 2+ years of experience performing and supporting annual reconciliations, including researching variances and resolving discrepancies
  • 2+ years of direct Foreign Military Sales (FMS) experience in a federal government environment required
  • 2+ years of experience with defense general ledger accounting processes, entries, and financial reporting structures
  • 2+ years of experience supporting defense audit remediation, including control documentation
