The AU Ops Excellence BI/Analytics team is seeking a Business Analyst to join our team. This role sits within the broader AU Ops Excellence organisation, which drives operational performance across Amazon Australia’s All Miles network — spanning First Mile (fulfilment centres), Middle Mile (transportation and sort), and Last Mile (delivery stations).
The successful candidate will build models, tools, and systems that support operational decisions across the AU network. You’ll develop optimisation models, automated dashboards, production tools, and data infrastructure — turning complex operational data into actionable insights and scalable solutions. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you will directly shape how AU Operations measures performance, identifies opportunity, and executes improvement.
Key job responsibilities
Build and maintain automated dashboards and reporting (QuickSight, Redshift) for operational metrics, training compliance, and WBR/MBR/QBR inputs
Develop production tools, websites, and ETL pipelines that replace manual processes with scalable solutions
Analyse complex datasets to surface patterns, conduct root cause deep dives, and deliver actionable recommendations to leadership
Develop optimisation models that support network strategy — throughput planning, cost efficiency, and resource allocation
Apply AI and automation to accelerate delivery, while maintaining critical thinking and ensuring output quality and accuracy
Partner with operations teams and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-impact projects
About the team The AU Operations Excellence team drives operational efficiency and continuous improvement across Amazon’s Australian network. Rooted in lean and continuous improvement principles, the team works closely with site operations and partners across Planning, Deviations, Quality, Learning, Last Mile Delivery Experience, Routing, and BI/Analytics. The BI/Analytics team provides data-driven insights and analytical support across Operations Excellence: translating operational data into actionable intelligence that enables smarter planning, faster deviation detection, and evidence-based decision-making.
The team is distributed across multiple Australian cities and dedicates its capacity to high-impact project delivery, with dedicated time for learning and upskilling.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, computer science, operations research, business analytics, information systems or equivalent, or Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
- 3+ years of business analyst, data analyst or an equivalent role experience
- Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence, or experience in quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance)
- Experience with reporting and Data Visualization tools such as Quick Sight / Tableau / Power BI or other BI packages
- Experience in data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience contributing to the definition and implementation of automation opportunities within an operations environment
- Knowledge of data engineering pipelines, cloud solutions, ETL management, databases, visualizations and analytical platforms
- Master's degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or related science field, or experience with machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance
- Experience in Logistics, Distribution or Fulfillment processes
- Experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk management, and critical path management
- Experience distilling informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives
