Acoustic Analyst Level 3/4

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Sunnyvale, CA +1 · Mechanical

This role involves acoustic analysis for US Navy machinery, focusing on classical analysis techniques, developing predictive/simulation models, and performing various types of frequency and sound transmission analyses. It requires experience with simulation software like Hypermesh, Nastran, Abaqus, and MATLAB, and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance. The role is primarily engineering-focused within the defense domain.

What you'd actually do

  1. Use classical analysis techniques to establish an understanding of machinery acoustic performance and resolve issues.
  2. Develop a variety of component and system level predictive / simulation models.
  3. Perform modal, vibration, modal, direct frequency response, and sound transmission analyses to predict performance and resolve issues.
  4. Gather data from tests and analyze the results.
  5. Correlate model predictions to test data to validate the approach / model.
