Adas Simulation Engineer

Ford Ford · Auto · Dearborn, MI +1 · PD Operations and Quality

This role focuses on engineering and validating Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) features through simulation. The engineer will build and utilize simulation models, integrate ECU models, debug software issues, create virtual test scenarios, and develop simulation tooling and processes. The goal is to accelerate iterative testing and reduce reliance on physical vehicle testing.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead simulation for ADAS/AV feature development and vehicle programs validation & sign-off
  2. Build reduced fidelity vehicle dynamics models from ADAMS models and correlate against test data
  3. Perform closed-loop full vehicle simulation to accelerate iterative testing of ADAS features
  4. Integrate multiple ECU models for full vehicle SiL testing.
  5. Debug and support resolution of SWC issues to deliver ADAS features quality

Skills

Required

  • ADAS simulation software (CarMaker, CarSim or similar)
  • Model based development using Simulink
  • scripting or programming language (e.g., C, C++, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Vehicle or subsystem development/V&V assessment experience in ADAS/VehDyn/Chassis Systems
  • developing plant and control models of variant fidelity (incl. Vehicle Dynamics, Brake, Steering or powertrain)

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Field
  • ADAS/AV software development
  • CI/CD platforms like Github Actions, jenkins
  • ADAS/AV enablers: camera, radar, ultrasonic and LiDAR sensing, senor fusion, image processing, artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • data acquisition of vehicle networks and ECU internal data
  • standard methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, DevOps, and Lean)
  • Vector CANape, CANalyzer or similar tools
  • computer vision detection & tracking of signs, lights, lanes and other key artifacts.
  • MATLAB/Simulink
  • Vehicle network (CAN, CAN FD, TCP/IP, ethernet etc.)
