Adas Surround View Camera Feature Engineer

Ford Ford · Auto · Dearborn, MI +1 · PD Operations and Quality

This role focuses on the engineering and development of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) camera visualization features, specifically rear-view and surround-view cameras, for Ford vehicles. The engineer will act as a technical authority, leading requirements definition, cross-domain orchestration, and ensuring compliance with automotive safety and regulatory standards. The role involves system engineering, failure mode avoidance, and collaboration with various design and safety teams to deliver robust and safe camera features for customers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Act as the technical authority for Rear View (FMVSS111) and Surround View camera features, leading requirements decomposition, cross-domain orchestration, and roadmap definition in collaboration with Product and Digital Design teams.
  2. Ensure the robustness of our camera features by leading the development of feature requirements, Boundary diagrams, design analysis, Failure Mode Avoidance, and test procedures.
  3. Ensure global regulatory (FMVSS111) and functional safety (ISO-26262) compliance by partnering with the Automotive Safety Office and Office of General Counsel to develop item definitions, hazard analyses, and safety concepts.
  4. Drive feature robustness through Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) and advanced validation (HIL/SIL/Vehicle); lead complex root cause investigations (8D/5-Why) and present technical solutions to enterprise leadership.
  5. Collaborate with Product Design and Digital Design teams to define the roadmap and scope of Ford’s Camera Experience Features, including the look and feel we want our customers to experience.
