Aerospace Vehicle Technician Senior 2nd Shift - Millennium Space Systems

This role involves performing tasks in support of final spacecraft integration, Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) installations, and testing for Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing company. The technician will work from instructions to support assembly, testing, and launch operations of space vehicles, requiring a high school diploma and at least 4 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly for high-reliability products.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work from preliminary design drawings, sketches, blueprints, schematics, and both verbal and written instructions to determine the most appropriate methods for integrating designs and meeting production and laboratory requirements.
  2. Perform assembly and integration tasks to precise tolerances, using expertise to select the most effective methods for meeting engineering specifications.
  3. Operate specialized equipment during spacecraft assembly, such as hydraulic test consoles, cooling system test consoles, alignment fixtures, and installation fixtures.
  4. Determine the sequence of operations and install components in space vehicles before testing, including performing complete system leak and pressure checks, as well as alignment checks of control surfaces.
  5. Handle fragile multi-layer insulation (MLI) films and materials with care during installation onto test and flight articles.

Skills

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly for high-reliability products
  • Proven experience in building and terminating wiring harnesses to a high standard for racks and boxes
  • Experience using a variety of hand tools, including scalpels, scissors, hollow punches, etc.
  • Skilled in interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and harness wiring diagrams, as well as internal and external specifications
  • Proficient in using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and digital multimeters (DMM)
  • Experience with assembly tooling and/or composites fabrication and assembly
  • Proficient in using various hand and power tools
  • Experience with mixing epoxy materials

Nice to have

  • Minimum 5+ years of Integration experience
  • At least 1 year of experience working with MLI/thermal blankets.
  • Certification to J-STD-001 space, NASA.STD.8739.4
  • Demonstrated exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience working in a clean room environment
  • Ability to generate discrepancy reports as they occur in areas of influence
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Open to travel
  • Active Security Clearance
