Agency Asset Manager I - Inspections

This role involves conducting physical inspections of multifamily assets for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac collateral, focusing on property condition, safety, and compliance with agency guidelines. Responsibilities include detailed reporting, identifying repairs and hazards, and coordinating unit access. The role requires experience in commercial real estate and GSE experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform comprehensive physical inspections of apartment buildings, including building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), structural integrity, roofs, and exterior grounds.
  2. Ensure all inspections meet specific agency guidelines.
  3. Produce detailed, photographic reports outlining the current condition, necessary repairs, and estimated costs (Immediate Repairs and Replacement Reserves).
  4. Identify deferred maintenance, safety hazards (like mold, water damage, or electrical issues), and compliance with local building codes.
  5. Access a representative sampling of apartment units to verify conditions and compliance with property standards, typically coordinating access with property management.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in commercial real estate, property management
  • At least 2 years of GSE experience (Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac) or CMBS experience

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Economics
  • At least 4 years of experience in commercial real estate, property management
  • At least 3 years of GSE experience (Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac) or CMBS experience
  • At least 3 years of experience with loan asset management
  • At least 3 years of experience conducting site inspections with a firm understanding of MBA Guidelines
  • Knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac inspection requirements
  • Knowledge of Property Condition Assessments (PCAs)
  • Ability to use cameras and software for data collection and report submission.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Qualified GSE Inspector
