AI Deployment Engineer, Messenger Integrations

OpenAI OpenAI · AI Frontier · San Francisco, CA · Go To Market

This role focuses on building and deepening integrations of ChatGPT with third-party messaging platforms. It's a hands-on, partner-facing engineering position requiring daily coding, debugging, and collaboration with external teams to enhance user experience, retention, and feature sets. The engineer will translate partner needs into OpenAI's roadmap and ensure the safe and effective deployment of AI applications.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner with messenger app product and engineering teams to design ChatGPT-powered experiences that fit naturally into chat, group, contact, and app-tab surfaces.
  2. Deepen existing partner integrations, with an initial focus on improving user experience, retention, reliability, and feature set.
  3. Build prototypes, integration guides, reference flows, and launch checklists that help partners move from concept to production.
  4. Debug API, latency, authentication, quota, quality, and user-experience issues across partner and OpenAI systems.
  5. Translate privacy, trust, login, and data-handling requirements into clear technical constraints and implementation plans.
