AI Deployment Engineer, Public Sector - Federal Civilian

This role focuses on deploying Generative AI applications for public sector customers, acting as a technical advisor to help them identify, build, and scale AI use cases using OpenAI's API and products. The engineer will partner with customer technical teams and implementation partners to move from prototype to production, ensuring tangible value and contributing to the growth of the AI Deployment Engineering function.

What you'd actually do

  1. Deeply embed with our most sophisticated public sector customers as the technical lead, serving as their technical thought partner to ideate and build novel applications on our API and other OpenAI products.
  2. Work with senior customer stakeholders to identify the best applications of AI in their industry and to build/qualify a comprehensive backlog to support their AI roadmap.
  3. Intervene directly to accelerate customer time to value through building hands-on prototypes and/or by delivering impactful strategic guidance, often in collaboration with systems integrators and implementation partners.
  4. Forge and manage relationships with our customers’ and implementation partners’ leadership and stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment and scale of their applications.
  5. Contribute to our open-source developer and enterprise resources.

Skills

Required

  • 7+ years of technical consulting experience with public sector customers
  • Successfully led GenAI or traditional ML implementations for government agencies
  • Effective and polished communicator
  • Industry experience in programming languages like Python or Javascript
  • Own problems end-to-end
  • Humble attitude, eagerness to help colleagues
  • High throughput operator, drive multiple concurrent projects and prioritize ruthlessly

Nice to have

  • U.S. federal civilian preferred
