AI Policy Manager

Meta is seeking an AI Policy Manager to navigate complex AI policy issues, develop policy positions, advise on policy risks for product launches, engage with external stakeholders, and shape the company's external AI policy posture. The role requires experience in public policy, understanding of the AI policy landscape (safety, governance, ethics, accountability), and the ability to translate technical AI concepts into policy-relevant terms. It also involves evaluating AI governance mechanisms, engaging with technical partners, and staying current with AI technologies and tools.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and maintain Meta’s advocacy positions on a wide range of AI policy issues, ensuring they are aligned with our product roadmap and broader policy objectives
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to AI policy
  3. Support the team’s engagement with a global network of third-parties, including academic institutions, research centers, and civil society organizations
  4. Track and analyze emerging AI policy issues and trends, providing insights and recommendations to internal teams
  5. Prepare briefing materials and other advocacy materials for internal and external use

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in public policy
  • Proven understanding of the AI policy landscape
  • Experience in analyzing AI technology for policy and governance
  • Evaluate governance mechanisms
  • Engage effectively with technical and cross-functional partners
  • Experience in building and managing relationships with external stakeholders
  • Proven track record of communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows
  • Familiarity with global AI policy and regulatory developments
  • Experience working at a technology company on AI policy issues
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices

Nice to have

  • JD or Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • A network of contacts in the academic and civil society communities focused on AI
