AI Success Engineer role focused on post-sales customer engagement, driving adoption, technical integration, and value realization of OpenAI's AI platform for enterprise clients. This role requires deep technical knowledge of OpenAI products, APIs, and common integration patterns, along with experience in enterprise security and compliance. The engineer acts as a trusted advisor, mapping workflows, guiding deployments, and translating customer needs into actionable roadmaps, while also providing feedback to Product, Engineering, and Research teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the technical relationship for post-sale customers and act as their trusted advisor on deployment, adoption, and value realization
  2. Own account health, adoption velocity, and ongoing technical deployment and success across your portfolio
  3. Be an expert in all of OpenAI products across our API and agentic platform, Codex, ChatGPT Enterprise, and more and conduct technical enablement and configuration sessions across them
  4. Identify and validate use cases by embedding with customer teams to understand workflows and pain points
  5. Lead account level coordination across multiple workstreams, including new product activation, change management, and customer rollout and deployment planning

Skills

Required

  • Technical customer facing roles (e.g., technical account management, solutions architecture, technical delivery leadership)
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of OpenAI product capabilities, APIs, SDKs, connectors, and common integration patterns
  • Understanding of model behavior, limitations, technical tradeoffs, embeddings, retrieval augmentation, and approaches to fine-tuning or custom model usage
  • Practical experience with authentication and enterprise security concepts (SSO, domain verification, encryption)
  • Familiarity with enterprise compliance frameworks (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Proficiency in coding languages like Python or JavaScript
  • Comfort with REST APIs, SDKs, automation, CI/CD, containers, and cloud platforms
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language
  • Strong record of driving technical deployments and adoption for large enterprise customers
  • Experience embedding with customers to map workflows, identify requirements, and diagnose adoption challenges
  • Excellent project and program management skills
  • Ability to manage fast decision making, context switching, and dynamic customer needs
