AI Systems Engineer (engineer or Principal Engineer Level)

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · El Segundo, CA +2 · Systems/Architecture/Test

AI Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman responsible for incorporating AI into system of system architectures and ensuring the development of AI-enabled systems. The role involves developing integration and test procedures, creating and analyzing system models, and applying knowledge from various disciplines to architect and design systems. It specifically mentions testing multi-agent systems employing algorithms for detection, decision, pattern recognition, and prediction, and defining system requirements for a new class of systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develops integration & test procedures, and verification and validation approaches; and develops system operations, sustainment, and maintenance plans and procedures.
  2. Creates and analyzes models of a system, with the goals of increasing understanding and searching for incompleteness and inconsistency.
  3. Adept at a range of AI development environments/tools (reuse, repository); expert/proficient with the environment being utilized.
  4. Applies knowledge from various disciplines to architect and design systems; includes neuroscience, behavioral science, engineering (systems, electrical, mechanical), computer science (distributed computing/programming), philosophy/phenomenology, physics, and mathematics.
  5. Uses emerging verification and validation approaches in addition to the traditional ones to test 1) multi-agent systems employing algorithms that produce ever-changing outcomes related to detection and decision, pattern recognition, and prediction, and 2) systems requirements definition for a new class of systems.
