AI Systems Engineer (principal or Sr. Principal Level)

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · El Segundo, CA +1 · Systems/Architecture/Test

AI Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman focused on developing, training, and validating AI/ML models for operational analysis, data stream analysis, data compression, and decision support in multi-domain simulation environments. The role involves designing MLOps pipelines and leveraging HPC/GPU acceleration for large datasets. Requires experience with Python/MATLAB and AI/ML libraries, data science fundamentals, and a Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop, train, and validate AI/ML models (e.g., supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement-learning, Bayesian) that:
  2. Analyze large-scale data streams for pattern detection, anomaly identification, and predictive insight.
  3. Perform data-compression (e.g., autoencoders, sparse coding, learned codecs) to reduce bandwidth/storage while preserving decision-critical information.
  4. Supply real-time decision-support scores for complex, multi-domain simulations.
  5. Automate and accelerate time-intensive data-workflow steps such as feature extraction, data‑fusion, and report generation.
