Aircraft Structures Mechanic Level 1 at Northrop Grumman, responsible for fabricating and assembling aircraft structures based on blueprints, using precision tools, and ensuring quality control in a manufacturing environment. Requires a Secret clearance and experience in aerospace or related fields.

What you'd actually do

  1. Read and understand blueprints
  2. Translate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies to include precision drilling, countersinking, and the use of calibrated tools
  3. Aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
  4. Performing part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming
  5. Measuring parts with precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions

Skills

Required

  • Blueprint reading
  • Use of calibrated tools
  • Precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers)
  • Basic fabrication and fitting operations (drilling, riveting, etc.)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance
  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 9 months structures/composites experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment OR completion of approved Aircraft Fabrication or Composites course

Nice to have

  • Current/active U.S. Government Secret level clearance
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, blueprints, etc.
