Aircraft Structures Mechanic Level 2 at Northrop Grumman, responsible for reading blueprints, fabricating structural assemblies, aligning parts, performing fitting operations, measuring parts with precision tools, and potentially modifying assemblies. What you'd actually do

  1. Read and understand blueprints
  2. Translate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies to include precision drilling, countersinking, and the use of calibrated tools
  3. Aligning parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
  4. Performing part-fitting operations such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming
  5. Measuring parts with precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions

Skills

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of structures/composites experience in an aerospace, automotive, military, manufacturing and/or maintenance environment
  • Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret level clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship

Nice to have

  • Current/active U.S. Government Secret level clearance
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, blueprints, etc.
