Joby Aviation is seeking an Airframe Assembly Inspector I for their 2nd shift in Marina, CA. This role involves performing quality inspections on structural assemblies and subassemblies, ensuring conformity to specifications, and completing required documentation. The inspector will work from diagrams, blueprints, and FAA-approved procedures, and will observe and audit assembly processes in real-time. The position requires a high school diploma, mechanical aptitude, familiarity with composite parts, and knowledge of production processes and quality control.

What you'd actually do

  1. Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly inspection operations on structural assemblies and subassemblies
  2. Works from diagrams and drawings, confirms initial layouts, and uses hand tools to check conformity to specification
  3. Makes continuity checks on work in process and finished work
  4. Conducts quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications
  5. Follows approved inspection procedures for component or aircraft structures, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) technical data, and work package instructions

Skills

Required

  • High School or GED
  • Mechanically inclined
  • familiar with usage of precision instruments
  • utilization of hand tools to perform inspections
  • Familiar with fabrication of composite parts
  • Reads work orders, blueprints, and specifications
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • proficient in the usage of air powered hand tools and related equipment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts if required
