Joby Aviation is seeking an Airframe Assembly Inspector III to perform quality inspections on aircraft structures and assemblies, ensuring conformity to specifications and regulatory requirements. This role involves analyzing processes, documenting work, and collaborating with teams to maintain airworthiness standards, with a focus on composite parts and bonded structures. The position requires adherence to FAA and OSHA regulations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly inspection operations on structural assemblies and subassemblies
  2. Works from diagrams and drawings, confirms initial layouts, and uses hand tools to check conformity to specification
  3. Makes continuity checks on work in process and finished work
  4. Conducts quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications
  5. Follows approved inspection procedures for component or aircraft structures, consulting internal procedures that have been FAA approved, original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s) technical data, and work package instructions

Skills

Required

  • High School or GED
  • Mechanically inclined
  • familiar with usage of precision instruments
  • utilization of hand tools to perform inspections
  • Familiar with fabrication of composite parts
  • Reads work orders, blueprints, and specifications
  • Knowledge of machines and tools
  • Be proficient in the usage of air powered hand tools and related equipment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations

Nice to have

  • 1+ years' experience with aircraft composite assembly, mechanical assembly, or aircraft structures
  • able to use all tech data and aircraft drawings, and manufacturing work instructions to perform inspections
  • Computer experience Microsft suite (Excel, Powerpoint, and Word)
  • Familiar with paste/secondary bonded structure
  • A&P and mechanical experience a plus
