This role is for an intern/co-op on the Robotics Deployment Engineering team at Amazon Robotics. The role involves significant travel and requires a foundational knowledge of robotics and networked systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. They work alongside a team who oversees the installation, troubleshooting, integration, and commissioning of Amazon Robotics equipment in new and existing fulfillment centers (FCs).
  2. This field engineering based position demands strong technical skills for deploying robotic equipment, including working with mechanical systems, electrical, configuring networking, and coordinating software systems.
  3. The Robotics System Engineer Intern/Co-op will work with a team of 1-5 engineers and collaborate with an on-site project manager to provide technical oversight on the installation of both third party and Amazon designed robotics equipment.
  4. As an Amazonian the candidate must demonstrate independent initiative to identify and solve problems in real time during deployments.
  5. The Robotics System Engineer Intern/Co-op will be deploying the robotic systems in various phases of a product life cycle.

Required

  • Ability to read and develop technical documentation and process instructions.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work primarily in a construction or warehouse environment in a field-based role.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in robotics or complex electro-mechanical and networked engineering, including knowledge of robotic systems, components, and software.
  • Strong bias towards taking independent initiative while reporting these efforts up to their leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to clearly explain technical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to capture lessons learned and drive technical continuous improvement projects.
  • Ability to function independently and manage a team of 1-5 engineers and related trades during deployments.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders working on the project to resolve cross-functional deployment issues.
  • Ability to oversee and resolve escalations during robotics deployment including quality hand-off, live order testing, site acceptance testing, operational readiness testing, monitoring robotics system performance, etc.
  • Responsible for delivering projects by owning key KPIs around on-time delivery, cost, quality, safety, and sustainability.
  • Understanding of data collection, reporting processes, and ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Currently working towards Bachelor’s or Masters Degree with a graduation date between December 2026 and August 2027
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Masters, or PhD program that is physically located in the United States and must have at least one semester/term/quarter of school left to complete after the end of the co-op
  • Are enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field
  • Must be eligible and available for a full-time (40h / week) co-op during the 6-month co-op dura
