This role is for an Application Engineer within Amazon's Retail Business Services (RBS) team. The team develops automation leveraging Machine/Deep Learning to scale complex tasks. The Application Engineer will work with business teams to solve support needs, translate requirements into deliverables, build scalable systems, maintain services, and contribute to operational efficiency. Responsibilities include on-call support, troubleshooting, and client onboarding.

What you'd actually do

  1. You will work directly with our business teams to solve their support needs with the existing applications and collect requirements and ways to solve highly scalable solutions in collaboration with other technical teams.
  2. You will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and building scalable systems.
  3. You will also contribute to maintain the services healthy and robust.You will be responsible for implementing, and maintaining the solutions you provide.
  4. You will work closely with engineers on maintaining multiple products and services, creating process automation scripts, monitoring and handling ad-hoc operational asks.
  5. On-call support is a critical responsibility where you will work on issues related to alarm monitoring, application infrastructure and bug fixes.

Skills

Required

  • 2+ years of software development, or 2+ years of technical support experience
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
  • Experience in Unix
  • Experience scripting in modern program languages
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development
  • Experience troubleshooting & maintaining hardware & software RAID
  • Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON
