Applied AI Engineer II

Microsoft Microsoft · Big Tech · Redmond, WA +2 · Business Applications

Applied AI Engineer II role focused on building agentic AI services for Azure customer support. Responsibilities include translating product specs into AI architectures, developing LLM-based solutions with orchestration and RAG, building evaluation systems, writing production code (C#/Python), deploying services with CI/CD and observability, and integrating with Azure services. The role emphasizes shipping production services that directly impact customers and applying Responsible AI practices.

What you'd actually do

  1. Translate product specifications into AI service architectures — decompose business intent into agent workflows, data source integrations, and scalable service designs.
  2. Build agentic AI workflows using Azure AI Foundry Agent Service and Microsoft Agent Framework, including multi-agent coordination, tool integrations, and agent lifecycle management.
  3. Develop and iterate on LLM-based solutions including prompt engineering, model selection, cost/token optimization, and RAG pipeline design.
  4. Build evaluation systems including rubrics, golden datasets, and judge agents to validate agent correctness and safety before production deployment.
  5. Write production-quality C# and Python with test-driven development, ensuring services meet reliability, performance, and security standards.
