Applied Science Manager, Prime Video - Content Localization, Understanding & Enrichment

Amazon Amazon · Big Tech · Seattle, WA · Applied Science

Manager for a team of scientists and engineers building video understanding and search systems for Prime Video. The role involves defining technical direction, leading the team, partnering with other teams, and owning the end-to-end delivery of production systems that analyze video content at scale. The focus is on leveraging ML, NLP, and computer vision to understand content for customer experiences.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define and drive the technical direction and roadmap across our "understanding" and "search" workstreams — making sure our work connects to Prime Video's broader goals around content intelligence.
  2. Lead and grow a high-performing team of scientists and engineers, building a culture of scientific excellence, customer focus, and reliable delivery.
  3. Partner with teams across Prime Video (personalization, search etc) to understand what they need from us, shape our outputs to be reliable building blocks for their products, and drive adoption.
  4. Own delivery end-to-end — from early research and experimentation all the way through launching production systems that run at the scale of Prime Video's full catalog.
  5. Define and track success metrics for quality, reliability, and real-world impact on downstream products, continuously raising the bar on what "good" looks like.
