Applied Scientist Ii, Search Ranking

Amazon Amazon · Big Tech · Palo Alto, CA · Applied Science

The Applied Scientist II role on the Amazon Search team focuses on improving search relevance by inventing signals and algorithms for machine-learned ranking models. This involves the full development pipeline from data analysis and prototyping to A/B testing and production deployment, aiming to enhance the discovery of products for millions of customers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Invent universally applicable signals and algorithms for training machine-learned ranking models.
  2. The relevance improvements you make will help millions of customers discover the products they want from a catalog containing millions of products.
  3. You will work on problems such as predicting the popularity of new products, developing new ranking features and algorithms that capture unique characteristics, and analyzing the differences in behavior of different categories of customers.
  4. The work will span the whole development pipeline, including data analysis, prototyping, A/B testing, and creating production-level components.
